What are we Growing?

We are looking to cultivate native British Kelp and Shellfish and establish the best growing techniques for our stretch of coast.

Our crop will help to re-seed wild populations and recover lost biodiversity

Where is our site?

Our proposed site is 2km offshore in Ringsted Bay, 6km East of Weymouth

The site gives us the perfect combination of depth, flow and shelter, while avoiding protected features and busy areas.

The surface dimensions of our site will be 300mx100m. We wont use all of that to start, but we the site withing 3 years of the start of operations.

All of the rope infrastructure and growing lines will be submerged between 3m and 5m bellow the surface. All that you will see from the surface is a few buoys.

The site will be clearly identifiable and marked with the appropriate buoys and navigation markers.

How are we Going to do it?

Our sites are designed to have the minimum interaction with the seabed.

Our kelp will be grow on suspended long-lines, about 3m below the surface.

All of our sewing and harvesting will be done by hand.

Our shellfish will be in lanterns or cages suspended at the ends of the lines.

Our sea farms will be held in place by anchor points specially designed to support marine life

All of our equipment will be carefully monitored and removed at the end of the project
